National Flood Safety Awareness Week is March 14-18

Flooding is the greatest natural hazard affecting the northeastern United States. The National Weather Service, along with emergency management agencies in Vermont and New York, have declared March 14 through 18, 2022, National Flood Safety Awareness Week. The goal is to increase public awareness of the dangers posed by flooding. Keep reading to learn more about flooding, flood safety and how you can be better prepared for a flooding event. Flood Preparedness Both  flood preparedness  and awareness are key in staying safe during a flooding event. Know your flood risk and elevation above flood stage. Be prepared to evacuate if needed. Assemble a disaster supply kit that includes a first aid kit, canned food and can opener, bottled water, rubber boots and gloves, a battery powered radio, a flashlight and extra batteries.   Winter weather is not done with us quite yet!      A  Winter Storm  is set to track through northern Missouri t onight  (Wednesday)  through Friday Morning.  In the long-range, another bout of precipitation appears to be in store for the Northwest and western mountains, while rain takes aim at the eastern half of the U.S.  according to abc17news.com/weatherservice.  Accumulating Snowfall is expected tonight through early Friday morning  with the g reatest Snowfall  i nto west and northwest Missouri.
