Don't forget about your furry friends and other pets during a flood!

Protect your pets if it floods!

The Big Bags USA team is all about prevention before the flood waters come.  One area that some people overlook are their pets.  Having a plan in place to take care of your dogs, cats, and other pets will save you time, money and heartache if you have to leave your home or business due to a flood.  We have found several resources to help you plan for keeping your pets safe!

Resources available to help:

Ready.gov - http://www.ready.gov/sites/default/files/documents/files/pets_brochure.pdf - This resource has some great ideas on how to plan ahead.  Here are some highlights:

- Keep 3 days of food and water in an airtight, waterproof container
- Keep an extra supply of medicine
- Talk to your Vet about preparing a first aid kit for your pets
- Get a crate or other pet carrier
- Have a collar with appropriate tags and take a photo of you and your pet together
- Do NOT leave your pet
- Develop a buddy system with your neighbors, friends, or relatives

Preparation is the key!

Go to http://www.ready.gov/caring-animals to see more information on protecting your large animal, preparing a shelter for your pet, protecting your pet during a disaster, and caring for your pet after a disaster. The Big Bags USA team will continue to put out information to help you plan AHEAD for the next flood or natural disaster.  By planning ahead, you may save money, protect your property, and save the lives of your pets.

Please let us know if we can help you in your flood preparation planning!
