A Speedy and Efficient Deployment Strategy for Flooding

Flooding can happen fast. Sometimes you have days of notice to prepare as a flood works it’s way to your shores in the form of a tropical storm. Sometimes you only have hours as a flash flood has picked up and left you stranded. Because Mother Nature makes things unexpected, it’s important to have a strategy that is fast and efficient for those moments when it matters most. This is by Big Bags USA has created our fast deploying flood barriers and we want you to know all about them. Here are a few reasons our flood barriers are considered the best, and why your community will want to have them on hand.

It’s All About Speed & Efficiency

What makes our flood barriers stand out is that they are a ground confirming system that is both simple and easy. In fact, there is no other system on the market that can compare.

Why Is Setup So Fast?
Here is a brief breakdown of the setup process so that you can see how quickly these sandbags can be deployed.

Necessary equipment for any deployment of the Big Bags USA barriers are cordless screw guns and ¾”-1 1/2” wood or drywall screws to attach one system to another before filling. A few clamps can also be used with a minimum of two clamps on each side. When the bags are filled all the way, remove clamps, and connect the next system.

Heavy equipment that is normally used to fill the bags are: Front End Loaders, Skid Steers, Backhoes, Side Dump Trucks, Cement Trucks (with a slurry of sand and water), and Concrete Conveyor belt Trucks.

Training and organization of labor is greatly reduced using the Big Bags USA barrier compared to conventional sandbags. Effectively utilizing a smaller unskilled labor force creates a larger margin in budgeting and mitigation compared to a conventional sandbag barrier.

Before Deploying
Some Special considerations before you deploy Big Bags USA flood barrier should include:
  • Projected water levels
  • Elevation changes terrain
  • Equipment necessary for deployment
  • Available labor force
  • Whether you will need a Spreader Bar

Our Transforming Spreader Bar is an innovative lifting device that will live three, four, or five Big Bags USA sandbags. From there you can lift the system into the problematic area with precision.
