In the Heart of Hurricane Season 2020

We are in the heart of the hurricane season. It's more important, now than ever to have a flood mitigation plan in place. We have already had two hurricanes hit so far in 2020, Hanna and Isaias.  So, what can we expect for September? Well, tropical storm Nana's formation in the Caribbean and tropical storm Omar, east of North Carolina, are the most recent activities reported as of September 1, 2020. Just remember, hurricanes and flood damage can occur at unexpected times and these predictions are subject to change. Here at Big Bags USA®, our rapidly deployed flood control systems & barriers are here to protect you in case of a disaster.

We're Just Getting Started

With a total of 19-25 predicted named storms this season - 7-11 of which they believe will develop into hurricanes, according to the NOAA. Top forecasters have declared this hurricane season "extremely active," and are expecting at least 3-6 of them to be considered major hurricanes. It appears we are just getting started with this already active hurricane season.

What to Expect for September

September is off to an active start. There are currently 2 named storms in the tropics today. in the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season. Neither storm, Nana, nor Omar are currently expected to make any impact on Texas or the United States coastline. Tropical storm Nana is predicted to stay on course westward towards Honduras, making landfall closer to Belize. While enroute the storm is forecast to grow into a Category 1 hurricane prior to making landfall. Omar, east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, is currently experiencing strong wind shear and will likely dissipate without any landfall.  If history is any indication, there will be more hurricanes forming this month that may impact the US coastlines.  NOAA has forecast 3-6 major hurricanes in 2020, and September historically has produced several MAJOR hurricanes in the past few years..
