Eta makes landfall in Florida, pummels Carolinas, Virginia with dangerous flooding: Latest

"Eta made landfall early Thursday as a tropical storm near Cedar Key, Florida, and is now charging up the coast, pummeling the Carolinas and Virginia with dangerous flooding.
As Eta moves north, some areas in North Carolina and Virginia have reported flooded roads from more than 6 inches of rain.
In Charlotte, flooding led to evacuations at a charter school. At least 143 people have been rescued, fire crews said.
Eat is forecast to move parallel to the Southeast coast over the next 24 hours, bringing more rain and gusty winds to the Carolinas. The Carolinas could see up to 6 more inches of rainfall."

Massive flooding leads to evacuations, rescues and road closures across WBTV viewing area

"CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Heavy rainfall across the WBTV viewing area caused major flooding that led to evacuations, water rescues and school closings throughout Thursday morning.
The flooding caused very dangerous conditions for both drivers and homeowners in many areas. Multiple Flash Flood Warnings were issued for counties across both North and South Carolina.
Flash Flood Warnings are in effect for Cabarrus, Mecklenburg, and Union County in NC until 2 p.m."

Tropical Storm Eta floods South Florida, could make second landfall late week

"Tropical Storm Eta made landfall Sunday night on Lower Matecumbe Key in Florida, packing 65-mph winds as the long-lived late-season storm breezed through the archipelago. The storm brought serious and “life-threatening” flash flooding to portions of Miami-Dade and Broward counties, with more than 16 inches of rain falling west of Fort Lauderdale.
Now, Eta is drifting over the Gulf of Mexico, poised to make a second landfall in northwest Florida late this week or weekend."

Eta is bringing catastrophic rainfall to Central America. Now it will likely turn toward Florida

"Parts of Central America could still see life-threatening flash flooding as Tropical Depression Eta continues to pummel the region with unrelenting rain before heading toward the US coast.
There is still a lot of uncertainty about the strength with which Eta will reach the US coast, but it is likely to continue to bring heavy rain, life-threatening flash flooding, river flooding, and landslides, CNN meteorologist Derek Van Dam said. "
