Be sure to watch the news to see if any roads are closed due to flooding. If you come to a road that is covered in water, turn around - do not try driving through it. In addition to sweeping your vehicle away, standing water can be contaminated with toxins and chemicals or be filled with debris that can damage your vehicle. Road closures, cones, sawhorses and other cautionary signs are put in place for your safety, so be sure to pay attention to them.
