Protect your Roads with the Big Bags USA System
Protect your Roads with the Big Bags USA System
If you have the proper “tools” and resources available, and have an action plan, where everyone involved knows what they have to do, you can protect a long stretch of low-lying roadway or even perimeters around buildings in a very short period of time.
It’s action time, your already passed flood stage and you have just been notified the water is still rising. You may have anywhere from 3-6 hours before the flash flooding will close down your high traffic roadways or other areas of importance. Below shows how to maximize the deployment times and save property from damage.
6 Steps to to Deploy Big Bags USA System to protect a road
Step 1: Load the systems on a flatbed truck or trailer. After loaded, head to the 1st location on your plan and start deploying the systems on site.
Step 2: While you are headed to the site, each member including the equipment operators, sand and the ground crews should also be in route.
Step 3: At the site everyone should help each other out and know where the deployment of the Big Bags USA systems will start and end. The truck/trailer will drive along side the roadway while a person un-bands the systems from each pallet handing them to the “runners” that will carry the systems to be opened up and set in place. The “screwdrivers” are on the ground and will then follow the “runners” and screw each system to the next one all the way to the end.
Once you deploy the first barrier, you can start filling them with a cement truck mixed with 10 gallons of water for every cubic yard of sand.It should take 2 minutes to fill each Big Bag with in the system. (One bag equals 125 regular sandbags.)
Step 4: Make sure that once the trucks are empty, there is another one in line behind it, perpetually moving forward behind the deployment team and filling the bags as quickly as possible.
Step 5: Once you have the first layer completed, you can then repeat the process if you need to stack them more than three feet.
Step 6: After you are done with the one location move on to the next, and so on, until your problem areas are protected.
Unless you have enough equipment to handle more than one location at a time, then you can protect more property in less time. Think things through, plan ahead, have the action plan and implement the strategies, and you can save more property in less time by using the Big Bags USA barriers.
