Big Bags USA in a Live Demonstration!

The Big Bags USA team is excited about being invited by the City of Davenport, Iowa to conduct a live demonstration of the capabilities of our flood barrier systems.  Our demonstration will take place at the conclusion of the Great Connections 2014 conference conference presented by the International Erosion Control Association (IECA) Great Lakes Chapter.  The conference is April 29th - May 1st 2014, and our live demonstration will take place on May 1st in Downtown Davenport, Iowa. During the demonstration you will see how to connect the systems, the fastest way to fill them, and how easy they are to separate and move. Our ultimate goal will be to show how our products will save you time and money. We are active members for both the Iowa EMA Association as well as the National Grain and Feed Association. The top 10 States that have the most floods

Every state in the USA experiences flooding every year.  Some states however, are more prone to flooding than others due to a variety of reasons.  The Big Bags USA team wanted to highlight these states while urging all communities in flood prone areas to consider allocating resources towards flood preparation, versus the much more expensive flood mitigation after the waters hit. Info for these statistics were gathered from www.weather.com and indicate flash flooding incidents from 1999 to 2008. All States Top 10 States in flooding Other Flood related statistics (www.NOAA.com) In 2012, flash and river floods claimed 29 lives, down dramatically from 113 in 2011. Tips if your home floods

The Big Bags USA team is all about flood prevention, but we know that sometimes flood water can still enter your home.  We found some good resources about action that you can take to help restore your home! The Road to Recovery Here are some steps to take as soon as the floodwater level drops. If your home has suffered damage, call your insurance agent to file a claim. Check for structural damage before re-entering your home to avoid being trapped in a building collapse. Take photos of any floodwater in your home and save any damaged personal property. Make a list of damaged or lost item s and include their purchase date and value with receipts, and place with the inventory you took prior to the flood. Some damaged items may require disposal, so keep photographs of these items. Keep power off until an electrician has inspected your system for safety. Boil water for drinking and food preparation until authorities tell you that your water supply is safe. Preve...
