Myth #1: I don't live in a flood zone, so I'm not at risk for flooding.  Although some places have a higher flood risk, there's not a magical boundary where flood risk just stops. Flooding can occur anywhere, at anytime. In fact, 20% of flood insurance claims come from areas considered to have a moderate to low risk for flooding. Major Disaster Declaration for Texas

On April 25, 2016, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) announced that federal disaster assistance has been made available to the state of Texas to supplement state and local recovery efforts in the area affected by the severe storms and flooding during the period of April 17-24, 2016. Federal funding is available to help assist with recovery and Big Bags USA® wants to help too! Federal Assistance  Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster. Federal funding is also available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide.
