Flooding is an issue no matter what time of the year, but August has some unique flooding situations that come up. June through November is the Atlantic hurricane season, and we aren’t even at the peak of the season. With many major hurricanes and storms coming through the nation, we wanted to take a moment to highlight what is happening around the country to our neighbors, family, and friends. Hurricane Laura's winds batter Louisiana, killing six "Winds of up to 150mph (240km/h) caused severe damage, with power cuts to more than half a million homes and a chemical fire from an industrial plant. But the feared 20ft (6m) storm surge was avoided as the hurricane, the state's biggest, tracked further east. Laura has now been downgraded to tropical storm status. It has since crossed into Arkansas. At 19:00 local time (00:00 GMT) on Thursday the National Hurricane Center said the storm had weakened to maximum sustained winds of 40mph (65km/h) , but was still bringing heavy rain...
