Hurricane Delta Makes Landfall in Mexico, forecast to hit US Gulf Coast on Friday
"Hurricane Delta hit Mexico on Wednesday morning as an extremely dangerous Category 2 storm, coming ashore near Puerto Morelos along the northeastern coast of the Yucatan Peninsula.It's expected to hit the U.S. Gulf Coast on Friday: "Delta is expected to grow in size as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast, where there is an increasing likelihood of life-threatening storm surge and dangerous hurricane-force winds beginning Friday, particularly for portions of the Louisiana coast," the hurricane center warned. "
Flooding from Tropical Storm Beta Swallows Cars in Houston
"CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Beta caused Keegans Bayou to overflow Monday night, swallowing cars in southwest Houston.The National Weather Service in Houston issued a flood warning for Keegans Bayou at 9:41 p.m. Monday. Less than an hour later, video from Houston storm chaser and freelancer Jaime Garcia on Twitter showed an SUV almost underwater and water rising above a nearby pickup."
Local Texas Flooding from Tropical Storm Beta
"Tropical Storm Beta made landfall on September 21 about 10 pm CDT near Port O’Connor, TX, with sustained winds near 45 mph. Once inland, slow-moving Beta weakened and turned northeastward, crossing the Mississippi Delta before dissipating on September 25 over the Southeast.
