Flood Report: October 2020 (Part2)

As we near the final month of the hurricane season the weather is still quite active, with tropical storms and hurricanes still wreaking havoc across the globe, causing widespread flooding and damages. Flooding is a serious natural disaster and can arise in nearly any area, so having flood control systems in place prior to the event is essential for minimizing damages and saving lives. This is where Big Bags USA and our patented flood barrier systems can help! Our quality product, combined with our diligent and determined team provides second to none disaster relief service to your community.

Oct. 28 - Hurricane Zeta roars inland after slamming New Orleans

"As the latest overachieving storm in an unforgiving and record-setting season, Hurricane Zeta roared ashore in southeast Louisiana on Wednesday afternoon. The powerful Category 2 hurricane, which struck near Cocodrie, La., intensified right up until landfall, defying earlier forecasts for a substantially weaker storm.

Shortly after crossing the coast, Zeta slammed into New Orleans, its eye moving directly over the city, cutting power to more than 80 percent of its residents. City officials said that more than 200 trees were down across the city and that one man, electrocuted by downed power lines, died, according to the Associated Press.

Torrential rain is expected all along its path, with widespread amounts of two to four inches and locally up to half a foot. Some flooding is likely."

Oct. 25 - Wet weekend across South Florida causing flooding issues for many in Broward County

"Heavy and constant rain has saturated South Florida for much of the weekend, and more wet weather is forecast in the coming days.

In Davie, several roads are under water, including a busy area near Nova Southeastern University and Davie Road.

Police also warned residents that College Avenue between Nova Drive and State Road 84 was impassable due to flooding. While waters have since receded, rain forecast for Sunday could quickly change things once again.

Not far away in Lauderhill, residents on Northwest 45th Court near 87th Avenue, right off Pine Island Road, are dealing with a flooded neighborhood.

It was a similar story in Lauderdale Lakes, where drivers navigated through a hazardous roadway at a neighborhood entrance at Oakland Park Boulevard and Somerset Drive."

Oct. 10 - Weakened Delta brings heavy rain and threat of flooding and tornadoes to Southeast

"About 3 million people were under flood and flash flood watches on Saturday across parts of the Mississippi and Tennessee river valleys as the remnants of Hurricane Delta continued to drench the Southeast.

Delta, now weakened to a post-tropical cyclone, dropped more than 1 foot of rain in Louisiana and its powerful winds pounded communities already ravaged by Hurricane Laura weeks ago. In its wake, it left more than 615,000 homes and businesses along the Gulf Coast without power as of Saturday afternoon, according to poweroutage.us.

Flash flood emergencies were issued following the heavy rain, with parts of southwest Louisiana receiving up to 17 inches of water."
