Flood Report: December 2020 (Part 1)

Dec. 11th - Flood Warning: Effingham, GA & Screven, GA

The Flood Warning is now in effect until early Saturday afternoon... The Flood Warning continues for the Savannah River near Clyo. * Until Saturday afternoon. * At 9:15 AM EST Friday, the stage was 11.2 feet. * Flood stage is 11.0 feet. * Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * Forecast, the river is expected to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning and continue falling to 8.8 feet Wednesday morning. * Impact, at 11.0 feet, the back yards of several homes on Tom Goethe Road flood.

Dec. 11th - Storm moving across US with heavy snow to the North and strong thunderstorms to the South

"A storm system is moving out of the West and into the the Plains and the Midwest Friday, bringing heavy snow to the north and strong storms to the western Gulf Coast and Southern Plains.By Friday afternoon and evening, the storm will move east, spreading snow into Nebraska, Iowa, southern Wisconsin and Michigan.In the South, strong thunderstorms are possible with damaging winds from Texas to Arkansas.

Dec. 7th - ‘Marginal risk’ of severe weather in South Florida, with some areas under flood advisory

"South Florida’s weather is a mess Monday morning, with the forecast calling for gusty winds, severe thunderstorms and flooding rain. Oh, and a few tornadoes may be possible. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots, according to the weather service’s hazardous weather outlook. Meanwhile, on the West Coast, a new storm is moving in with heavy rain all the way to the San Francisco Bay Area."
