2019 brought some crazy weather to the Midwest, as we saw extreme flooding wiping through the states. From snowmelt in the north to torrential rainstorms in the middle states, and everything running down south - it was a really rough year for so many of our American neighbors. Unfortunately, it looks like 2020 isn’t going to bring much relief when it comes to areas around the Great Lakes. USA Today has recently reported that the water levels could be EVEN HIGHER than this past record-shattering spring and summer.
Here are a few of the forecasts that have been predicted, as well as how your community can prepare with strong and FAST flood protection.
Forecasters are now predicting that Lakes Michigan and Huron will start 2020 at 11 inches higher than the water levels in January 2019, according to Keith Kompoltowicz (chief of watershed hydrology at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Detroit. This forecast extends into March and looks as if the levels are going to be on-par with or above where they were at the same time last year.
The fact is, these areas are at the mercy of next year's winter and spring rain and snowfall. Not only is the high water looking to be intimidating, but it’s proving to already be causing issues to retaining walls, as well as neighborhoods that have already experienced a harsh year.

In fact, they were almost three feet higher on connected lakes Michigan and Huron, and on Lake St. Clair.
